I am an artist who draws inspiration from music, mythologies, fairy tales, and especially from the power and vulnerability of nature. As a child, I could be moved to tears by the beauty of a tree or the delicacy of wildflowers, or even by a simple lullaby. As an artist, I try to capture those moments of wonder, vibrancy, and stillness that we still experience as adults, however ephemeral they might be. My art is rooted in the visible but also tries to depict the fragile images at the edges of my memory. If we pause to look more deeply, beyond the tangible and often unfeeling world around us, we can reconnect with some parts of ourselves we thought were lost to childhood, when our heightened awareness could bring so much meaning.
I am Dutch-American and have lived in the Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, Scotland, and England, and I draw from the cultures and landscapes of those places. I am a graduate of Vassar College and currently live in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
